Redaction • 17 april 2021
Advantages of nuclear power plants
10% of the world’s energy is generated in a clean and efficient way by about 440 nuclear power plants. Next to the current running plants there are about 50 plants under construction according to the world nuclear association. Nuclear power comes with advantages and disadvantages, like everything else. Which advantages do we see is listed below.
List of advantages of nuclear power
See below list of potential advantages of nuclear power;
- Reliable: Reliable source of baseload energy
- Reliable: Nuclear plants run for many decades
- Energy:
Uranium has a very high energy density
- Energy: Uranium is sufficiently available in nature
- Energy: Clean source of energy to power todays and the futures energy needs
- Environment: One of the smallest carbon footprints
- Environment: Extremely low greenhouse gas emissions
- Environment: Low amount of waste produced
- Cost: Relative low-cost clean energy
- Risk: Current power plants have a very low risk for accidents
- Risk: Safest energy source, compared to oil, gas and coal
- Employment: Nuclear energy needs skilled labor
- Technological Advancement: Development of new technology, like small modular reactor
We will keep updating the list with new information when this is received. Thank you for your support in creating this list.
