Watch Out: Exhibition Zombie Visitors!

Are you an exhibition zombie visitor? To know if you are, you first need to understand what we mean with an exhibition zombie visitor. This is a type of visitor to an exhibition (or event, or seminar) that comes fully unprepared to a show, walks around, does not know what he (or she) is doing or what he is searching for. Some of these zombies might even try to speak to exhibitors, but then questions will not go much further then; how is the show? or how is weather? Questions back from the exhibitors are often answered as, “need to check” or “please send your question by email”. Guess that parts of this can sound familiar one way or the other.

To not be a zombie visitor at any show our advice is to always prepare yourselves with at least some pre-conference, visit and post conference work.

Pre-conference preparation

Set up meetings in advance, know the stand locations and numbers of companies that you want to visit, prepare 5 questions that can lead to a good meeting/discussion, prepare an elevator pitch.

Visit of the exhibition

Bring your preparation work, have something to take notes on, where clothes that fit the exhibition, capture the actions of the meetings.

Post-conference work

Write short reports of your meetings, set out the actions and follow up to take the next step in reaching your goal.

Above basic points will maximize the results of your visit to an exhibition, and people will see you not as that exhibition zombievisitor. This all said, here are a couple of exhibitions that can be of interestwhen you are working in separation, filtration and purification world.

  1.   Filtech, Cologne - Germany

One of the largest exhibitions that is focused on the filtration and purification sector. Here you can find companies supplying equipment for water purification or air purification to food purification and other purification related segments.

  2.   CPHI - Global

If you are into pharmaceutical purification, nutraceutical purification or API purification then the CPHI can be an interesting event to visit as lots of leading pharmaceutical companies will be present, including companies with expertise in purification of pharmaceuticals.

  3.   Weftec - USA

For water or environmental purification, the WEFTEC is an interesting exhibition where a lot of people are present with expertise about various filtration, separation and purification topics in the water and environmental sector.

  4.   Aquatech – Amsterdam – Netherlands

For purification of process, drinking and wastewater this is an excellent exhibition which will host a lot of leading companies in this sector. A must visit if you want to meet with lots of persons in this sector.

  5.   IFAT – Germany

For purification in the environmental sector the IFAT is a leading exhibition where various purification technologies will be presented. Especially purification of water, sewage air and wastewater can be found at this fair.
