There are 118 chemical elements in the periodic table
and which of the elements was the most popular one in the year 2019? Was the most popular element an obvious one like gold or silver or was it an unexpected one like erbium or thulium.
To determine our top 118 of the chemical element popularity we looked at a very big data source and that is Wikipedia. We used the amount of pageviews from the year 2019 (From January 1st until the 23th of December). The total amount of pageviews for all the 118 elements was an impressive 55 million.
We have made two graphs based on the data, one is the top 25 (which you can find at the top of the article) and one contains all 118 chemical elements (which you can find at the bottom of the article).
The winner in term of Wikipedia pageviews is the element hydrogen followed by gold and aluminium. Surprisingly silver is only at number 23 and got beaten by elements as iron (7) and uranium (13).
On the bottom of the list is the element organesson with a very limited amount of pageviews followed by fermium and mendelevium.
